FAQs
Do I even need therapy?
Yep! We all need therapy. Seriously! I firmly believe everyone can benefit from having an outside person with whom to have confidential conversations. We all have behaviors we’d like to change, patterns that aren’t working for us, and thoughts that make us wonder “is this normal?”
How long will I be in therapy?
It’s entirely up to you! Some folks attend therapy for a brief time to gain clarity around a specific issue. Some people enjoy establishing a long-term relationship with their therapist and attend therapy as part of their ongoing health and wellness routine. Others prefer something in between. We will continually assess progress and goals to make sure we find what’s right for you.
Is this really confidential?
Absolutely! Integrated Healing Therapy’s privacy policies are compliant with federal laws. Your information is protected by HIPAA, just like at a doctor’s office. Because your privacy is a priority, a signed release is required before IHT releases any information about your care. Please contact me if you have further questions.
What can I expect at my first appointment?
It takes courage to start therapy. I know you may be feeling nervous. Here is what you can expect:
Prior to your first session (also called your “intake”) you will be provided with the link to the client portal. There you will find your new client paperwork. You can review and sign it electronically. I will then send you a link to my virtual office. At your appointment time, you’ll copy and paste the link into your browser and I will start our session. If technology fails us, we will have our appointment by telephone.
I want to get the most out of therapy. What can I do to help?
The best thing you can do is attend therapy with an open mind, participate, and try out new skills in your life outside of therapy.
